In March, Olivier Vandenbalck, ON4EI, was active for the CQ World Wide WPX SSB Contest. He operated from a temporary station which he sets up on a hill in Tipperary. While he was there, various club members visited to assist with the putting together of the station. During a break in the work, Andy, EI5JF was able to get some video footage of the station.

March Meeting
The next meeting of the group will take place in The Clonmel Park Hotel, Clonmel on Tuesday 19th March at 8.30pm. New members or anyone interested in amateur radio are very welcome.

AGM

This is the most important meeting of the calendar year and all group members are requested to attend. Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome. A number of topics are up for discussion as well as making plans for 2019.
EI7T on the air for CQ WW WPX
Olivier ON4EI, is back again in Ireland from 18th to 28th March 2018 to operate during the CQ WPX SSB contest. He will be using EI7T for the duration of the contest.
Olivier is running contests in Low Power/Single Op SSB category using mainly green energy with his temporary ‘Field Day like’ antenna park setup.
- Inverted L 16m V/24m H monopole for 160 & 80m + 32 radials.
- Inverted V dipole for 160-80m-40m bands.
- 80m long beverage RX antenna East-West directional.
- Spiderbeam & Mosley TA33Jr antennas for 20/15/10m bands.
- Transceivers: 2 x Elecraft K3 + P3 SO2R 100W.
- 500Ah battery bank + 180W solar panel and 400W wind generator.

2017 AGM

Recent Meeting and ILLW
A well attended meeting was held on Thursday last at the Clonmel Park Hotel where plans were finalized for the upcoming International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend (ILLW) event at Ballinacourty Lighthouse on the 19th/20th August. If anyone else is interested in attending (including SWLs) please contact the club as soon as possible.

Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will activate Ballinacourty Lighthouse (ILLW Reference: IE0018) on Saturday and Sunday 19th & 20th August 2017 as part of the 20th International Lighthouse & Lightship weekend. Ballinacourty Lighthouse is located on the South coast of Ireland in County Waterford. The light at Ballinacourty was first established on 1st July 1858. The club will use the callsign EI7T for the activation.
The July meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will take place in The Park Hotel, Clonmel on Thursday 27th July at 8.30pm. New members or anyone interested in amateur radio are very welcome to attend.
July Meeting
The next meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will be held at The Park Hotel, Clonmel on Wednesday the 20th of July 2016 at 8.30pm. This meeting is open to all and Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome to attend. A number of radio related topics are up for discussion along with plans for participation in the upcoming IRTS SSB Field Day and 2 Meter Counties Contest.
May Meeting
The next meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will take place in The Park Hotel, Clonmel on Wednesday next the 11th of May 2016 at 8pm. This meeting is open to all and Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome to attend. A number of radio related topics are up for discussion as well as plans for participation in up coming events for 2016.
March Meeting
The next meeting of the Tipperary Amateur Radio Group will be held at Cahir House Hotel, Cahir, Co Tipperary on Tuesday the 22nd of March 2016 at 8.00pm. There will be a presentation made at this meeting by Olivier ON4EI/EI8GQB on the use of green energy to power his contest station EI1A. IRTS President Ger EI8CC will also attend this meeting which is open to all and Short Wave Listeners are in particular very welcome. A number of radio related topics are up for discussion along with the Groups participation in upcoming events.
